Scarves, scarves, and more scarves

For the past 2 months I went a little over board and knitted up too many scarves. I would pick out 2-3 different knids of yarn and a pair of 15's and put on a audio book and just sit back and knit till I ran out of yarn. This got rid of alot of unused yarn to make room for more. I always would buy novalty yarns and never use them until I thought about making them into scarves. Well my stash started to twindle and now I am scarf full now for a while. I made more not pictured that were given away to friends and family.

Love2KnitDishcloths xmas exchange

I was blown over at my exchange I got from my partner. This scarf must have taken forever. It is at least 5 foot long and 10 inches wide cable bead pattern. I just love it. She also gave my some chocolates, yarn, and sented candles.

Jokers Wild Bean

I got this little Jokers hat for my ferrets for xmas and had to put it on my Bean and take this embarrasing picture of him. He looks silly in it.

My first sock knitted

I learned how to knit about 3 years ago just so I could knit me a pair of socks. Well 3 years and 100 knitted project later I finally sat down and knitted my first sock a couple of weeks ago. The second one is on the needles yet. I used the "Dorm Room" sock pattern with Encore worsted weight yarn. I think I did pretty good on it. Now to sit my self down and get the other one done so I can accually wear them before summer hits.

xmas vacation crochet project

Wow!!! I can not believe I crochet a blanket. I am a lousy crocheter. I have the hardest time understanding the patterns. I had thrown down the crochet hook for 3 years and took up knitting. Finally I got the nerve up and started crocheting again. I got help from one of my knitting/crochet groups 'Crafters Haven' and the bug bit. I seen this pattern in Herrshners and bought it. I didn't use the yarn recommended for the blanket, I used instead James G. Brett yarn in chunky marble. I am going to submit this bl;anket in for the 2009 county fair. Imagine a blue ribbon on it, I already am.

vacation project 1

Here is another hat that I did from the Creative knitting magazine using Manos del Uruguay yarn. I got this yarn at a yarn shop in Gove city, KS. About 2 hours from my house. I just love this yarn.

vacation project 2

This hat pattern came from the new creative knitting magazine that I got in the mail last week. I used Rowan chunky on it and I just love it. It was such a fast knit. I took maybe an hour to knit up.

Vacation project3

All last week I was on vacation with the husband. While he built a fence I stayed inside and knitted up a few thing. This purse is lucking to even had been finished. I got the pattern off the net and the directions were way off. with alot of cursing and cutting and tying of yarn it finally came out to look like this. not bad for having to think out side the box.

Crafters Haven fall exchange

One of my favorite groups is Crafters Haven. We did a fall exchange and my partner was Alice. Wow did she out do her self. I got a crochet bath set (luffa sponge, wash cloth, hand towel) she made, and some bath soap and three Christmas orderments. One orderment is a crochet angel, crochet mistletoe, and a knitted Santa dish cloth. Wow that was very nice to get. Thank you so much Alice.

Hooks'n Needles group exchange

In one of my yahoo groups we took part in a group fall exchange. My partner was Kendra and this is what she gave me. I just love the scrubbie because it was a new project for her and I think she did a great job on it. I love the colors she chose for it as well. Not to mention the slippers she made me, I was making some but I used the wrong size needles on them and they were to big so I frogged them and never started them up again. Now I don't have to. Thanks again Kendra for the great exchange.

Garden gaurd

One day when I was out in my garden I spotted a Praying Mantis on one of my tomato plants. It is about 3" long. I have never even seen a praying mantis in this part of Kansas before so it was pretty neat to have one in my garden.

August Fair time

I entered in to the county fair a felted purse, baby hat & bootie set, and a pair of fingerless gloves and was surprised to receive Blue ribbons on all the projects. The felted purse even got a reserve grand champion ribbon as well. My mind is already planning for next year.

Busy, busy, busy.

I have been so busy with work and the new puppy 'Bean' that I haven't gotten much knitting done. Then my camera died and I just yesterday got a new one. I have made a few things but haven't taken pictures of them yet to post. I made a small felted purse for a little girl. some Preemie hats, blankets, and booties. And a few dish cloths. Most of my free time is spent with my ferrets and Bean.
My garden is pathetic. It got hailed on so I replanted it. Then it suffered from low iron. I got it some iron and it started bouncing back when it was attached by grass hoppers thousands of them. Sprayed them and got them killed. If I am lucky I may be able to pick a few cucumbers and maybe just maybe a cherry tomato before the fall.
Hope you all are having a great summer.

Summer off to a good start (I think)

I went into a local pet store to see what kind of ferret toys they had and of course here in rural Kansas they had none, BUT they did have the cutest Puppy. His name is Bean and he is part Carrien terrier/Pomeranian. He is full of energy. He has been a hand full to say the least. This little guy weights in at 2.7 pounds at 10 weeks. I have my work cut out for me on this one. It is going to be a challenge to train him.
I sometimes call him my 'Beanie Baby'.

What a Spring

Kitty

Pedro

Pan

The start of the Spring was no good. I lost my beloved ferret Pan and a month later I lost Pedro to cancer, and my cat "Kitty" who was 20 years old to old age. I will miss my babies.

I dusted off the Crochet hooks

Well I finally took the dive and decided to give it another try at crochet. Well these are a handful of coasters and one dish cloth/doily that I made on Sunday. Not bad for someone who couldn't do this 2 years ago. I did get a life line help from the group dish cloth haven. Thanks Ladies. I found these patterns on the net.

coffee coasters

Here are a few coasters that I made. I make them in sets of four and I will be giving them away in my exchanges.

monthly KAL fromRachel knitting group

This was a KAL that I did in one of my yahoo groups. "Rachel knitting group". I love this pattern. I thought about giving it out as a exchange but I am goig to keep it for my self.

A little Funky

This is the before and after of a novalty roll brim hat that I made. it turned out not to bad. A little funky but it fits,(not that I would wear it). I used 'lambs pride' in medival red and plymouths 'Furlauro'.
